Spend vs. Save — Where to Invest In Your Skincare

Linden Tyler accurately said, “Invest in your skin. It is going to represent you for a very long time.” However, you have to be smart to differentiate between the skin care products that are a necessity and cannot be skipped vs those that are not too important to spend your money upon.

The skin care industry is growing, with new products hitting the market on a weekly basis. Skincare products that fit your budget are a true necessity for everyone. It can all become overwhelming and confusing at the same time. We're here to assist you on which products you can save on and which ones are worth the splurge!!

Before we start out on our skincare products’ journey, do read the following tips:

  1. Consider your requirements: What are you looking for in a skin care product? Do you want something to moisturize your skin or something to help you battle wrinkles? It's easy to find the correct product once you know what you're looking for.
  2. Do your research: Before purchasing any skin care product, make sure you do your research. Read reviews, compare pricing, and learn about the product's ingredients. You'll be able to see if you're getting good value for your money this way.
  3. Begin with the basics: If you're not sure where to begin, investing in some basic skincare items is a great place to start. A good cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen are all necessary components of any skin care tip. Once you've understood the essentials, you can eventually buy the other products.

SAVE MONEY ON THESE SKINCARE PRODUCTS

  • Makeup Removers
  • There’s a host of high end makeup removers in the market but they are all meant to help you get rid of the makeup and dirt build up through the day. Thankfully, micellar waters have come along to make make up removal more affordable and more effective. Saving money and opting for micellar water to remove makeup is a good choice.

  • Cleansers
  • Cleansers are a utility skin care product that needs to be used twice a day. Cleansers are meant to clean dirt, makeup, and pollutants from your skin. The challenge is to select a cleanser that eliminates everything without drying out your skin. You don't have to spend a lot of money on it considering it is not going to stay in contact with your skin for a long time. Save your money and choose a mid range cleanser that is mild and non comedogenic. Choose a creamy cleanser if you have dry skin and a cleanser containing salicylic acid if you have oily skin.

  • Lip Balm

  • Lip balm is an absolute must-have, especially if you have dry lips. It keeps your lips from splitting and peeling by protecting and moisturizing them. The most prevalent constituents in lip balm are vitamin E, beeswax, and petroleum jelly. These components are not at all pricey. According to experts, more than 80% of lip balms, including Vaseline's lip balm, are petroleum-based.

  • Face Masks
  • Be it sheet masks, cream masks, clay masks or any other type of face masks, they’re all not that expensive to make. Also, they are used once or twice a week and not on a daily basis. Saving money and opting for face masks that are available in drug stores and made by reputed brands is a good idea.

  • Moisturizers
  • Moisturizers help our skin barrier by providing lipids, protecting from external chemicals, and providing hydration to our sometimes parched skin. If you are someone who uses active ingredients in their skincare regime, using a moisturizer that is economical can be a good option. Saving and opting for a basic moisturizer that is non comedogenic is our advice!

  • Sunscreens
  • One of the most important skin care tips is to apply sunscreen on a daily basis. Always use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher that includes oxide or titanium dioxide. You'll be reapplying sunscreen a lot. This is a product you will be using much more quickly than others, especially if you spend a lot of time in the sun. Since daily sun protection is a non-negotiable step in every skincare routine, and for how much more of your skin you need to cover on your neck and chest as well as your face, sticking to an affordable option is the best choice.

  • Serums
  • Serums stay on your skin for hours similar to your moisturizer. You’ll be applying it daily. Ideally, you’ll want a serum that you can use day and night. Serums are thinner and penetrate the skin quickly. They keep your face moist and help with concerns such as pigmentation, dull skin, fine lines and wrinkles. Aside from that, a high-quality serum will frequently safeguard your skin from harsh outdoor dust and damages. Spending money on good serums will always be beneficial for your skin.

  • Treatments
  • A great treatment product is no longer rare, as the market has been flooded with new options in recent years. An excellent treatment, on the other hand, combines high-quality acids (for example, glycolic, lactic, mandelic, and salicylic) or retinol with moisturizing substances that balance the skin. Because acids and retinol are known to dry and irritate the skin, they must be combined with substances that restore moisture. Some treatments such as retinol, remain on the skin for extended periods of time, so you'll want something that works well with your other products.

  • Anti-ageing products
  • Whether it's a moisturizer or a serum, you might be better off getting your antioxidant fix from a more expensive source. Better packaging and preservatives will make the antioxidant more resistant to UV and air exposure, which usually tend to break it down. Furthermore, more expensive brands often include a broader range of antioxidants into a single product, yielding better results in terms of maximizing the anti-aging impact.

  • Eye creams
  • Since the skin around your eyes is extremely thin and fragile, you need an eye cream with high-quality ingredients and nourishing ingredients in an eye cream. Whether it's for dark circles, wrinkle prevention or puffiness, your eye cream should be from a brand that is known to use premium quality ingredients with proven results.
